Alpha Centauri is an FRC Team at Minuteman High School, a vocational school serving students from nine member towns in Massachusetts: Lancaster, Bolton, Stow, Acton, Concord, Dover, Needham, Lexington, and Arlington. Minuteman emphasizes project-based learning, ensuring students graduate career-ready. Those pursuing higher education benefit from years of hands-on experience, giving them a strong foundation for future studies.
Founded in 2020, the team built its first robot, PROXIMA, for the 2021 Infinite Recharge challenge. That season, we earned two awards: Best New Rookie Team and Best Game Design.
In 2022, we built a robot for the Rapid React challenge and earned both the Rookie All-Star Award and the Rookie Inspiration Award.
Season 2023, Charged Up, was a milestone year for our team. We were proud to be part of the winning alliance at the NE District Western New England Event, qualifying for the NE District Championship.
For the 2024 Crescendo challenge, we built a robot called NRV (No Resale Value). Despite working with a tight budget, we designed a sturdy robot with a tank drive, one of the few on the field among swerve drive teams. Our drive team performed exceptionally well, and we were chosen to be part of an alliance that advanced to the semifinals at the NE District WPI Event.
